Job Requirements for Biblical Counselors at Restoring Hope Ministries


To ensure excellence in faith-based counseling and discipleship, Restoring Hope Ministries establishes the following qualifications and responsibilities for Biblical Counselors:

General Requirements for All Levels

 

  1. Faith Commitment: A personal and active relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through character, conduct, and ministry passion
  2. Adherence to Biblical Principles: Commitment to uphold and teach biblical counseling principles in alignment with Restoring Hope Ministries' mission
  3. Continuing Education: Participation in approved continuing education programs and regular training seminars to ensure the highest standards of practice in biblical counseling.
  4. Supervision Compliance: Active engagement in supervision relationships as outlined by role requirements.

 

Level 1: Bachelor's Level Biblical Counselor

 

Education:

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Biblical Counseling, or a related discipline from an approved program.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide one-on-one and group biblical counseling under the supervision of a doctoral- level counselor.
  • Maintain consistent participation in supervision sessions with a doctoral-level counselor.
  • Complete mandatory training modules to enhance counseling techniques and scriptural knowledge.

 

Supervision:

 

  • Must maintain direct supervision from a doctoral-level biblical counseling supervisor.
  • Meet regularly for case reviews, counseling evaluations, and professional development.

 

Level 2: Master's Level Biblical Counselor

 

Education:

 

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Biblical Counseling, Theology, or a related field from an approved institution.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct advanced one-on-one and group counseling sessions, demonstrating expertise in biblical principles and spiritual guidance.
  • Lead group supervision sessions for bachelor-level counselors to facilitate mentorship and discipleship in counseling skills.
  • Oversee and supervise Restoring Hope Ministries' chaplains and pastors, ensuring adherence to counseling and biblical teaching standards.

 

Supervision:

 

  • Maintain a supervision relationship with a doctoral-level supervisor.
  • Participate in and lead group supervision activities for bachelor-level counselors and ministry chaplains.

 

Level 3: Doctoral-Level Biblical Counselor (Supervisor/Professor)

 

Education:

 

  • Earned Doctorate in Biblical Counseling, Theology, or a closely related field.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as a professor and supervisor for lower-level counselors, providing theological and practical guidance for all counseling activities.
  • Oversee the adherence to ministry and counseling standards by all supervised counselors. Develop and deliver advanced training programs and continuing education workshops for the counseling team.
  • Provide specialized biblical counseling services for complex cases or high-level ministry needs.

 

Continuing Education:

 

  • Required to complete extensive continuing education annually in biblical counseling, theology, and counseling supervision.

 

Supervision:

 

  • Maintain ongoing accountability for professional and spiritual growth under ministry guidelines.
  • Supervise all bachelor's and master's level counselors, providing case oversight, advanced training, and professional mentorship.

 

Additional Requirements

 

  1. Ethical Standards: Counselors must uphold the ministry's standards for ethical conduct, including confidentiality, biblical fidelity, and compassionate care.
  2. Community Engagement: Participation in outreach and group events as required to support Restoring Hope Ministries' mission.
  3. Scriptural Focus: All counseling must be firmly rooted in biblical truth and focused on glorifying God in the healing process.
