Faculty & Supervisors
Every faculty member at RHSBC is an active counselor, pastor, or supervisor — people who teach what they live. You will not only learn from their scholarship; you will learn from their presence.

Dr. Jeffrey Gross
Th.D., Ph.D., M.S., SAC-IT
Founder & Dean, RHSBC · Lead Counseling Pastor & Executive Director · Psy.D. Doctoral Student
Dr. Jeffrey Gross is the Founder and Dean of the Restoring Hope School of Biblical Counseling (RHSBC) and Lead Counseling Pastor and Executive Director of Restoring Hope Ministries. He has been providing biblical counseling since 2019 and has trained dozens of counseling students through RHM's certificate, diploma, and degree programs.
A prolific author and educator, Dr. Gross has authored books and textbooks spanning biblical counseling theory, neuroscience-integrated theology, church hurt recovery, and RHSBC course materials. His academic and ministry work integrates the authority of Scripture with clinical awareness, believing that the best biblical counselors are both theologically rooted and humanly wise. He is currently completing his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at the APA-accredited Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology (anticipated 2028).
Dr. Gross is a NAMI North Bay Affiliate Leader and member of the Wisconsin Psychological Association. He is also a certified Brainspotting Practitioner (Phases 1, 2 & 5) and Gottman-trained couples counselor (Levels 1 & 2).
Why I Counsel
I didn't come to this work through a classroom alone. I came to it watching people who had been handed Bible verses like band-aids over wounds nobody stopped to understand — and watching what patient, prayerful, Scripture-shaped care did instead. That contrast is why Restoring Hope exists, and why I teach students to be present with people before they speak Scripture to them. Everything I study — theology, clinical psychology, neuroscience — serves that one calling: helping wounded people meet the God who binds up the brokenhearted without being hurt again in the process.

Mark Hufen
LCPC, LPC, SAC
Clinical Supervisor · Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Mark Hufen serves as Clinical Supervisor for Restoring Hope Ministries, providing leadership, consultation, and oversight across the ministry's counseling team to ensure safe, ethical, and effective care. He brings deep clinical expertise and a Christ-centered approach to his work with individuals, couples, and groups.
Mark holds dual clinical licensure — as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Wisconsin and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois — and is credentialed as a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) in Wisconsin. His dual-state licensure means he is able to provide licensed clinical services to clients in either state, subject to applicable telehealth regulations.
As a faculty member and supervisor at RHSBC, Mark brings rigorous clinical accountability to the training environment — modeling the integration of biblical wisdom and professional competence for the next generation of counselors.
Why I Counsel
I've spent my career sitting with people in the wreckage that addiction, broken marriages, and unprocessed trauma leave behind — and I've watched restoration happen when real clinical skill is placed in the hands of a compassionate God. Good therapy and good theology both require the same first step: honest listening, before anything else. I teach at RHSBC because I want the next generation of counselors to hold both — genuine competence and genuine Christ — without letting either one shrink the other.

Loretta
B.S.W. Intern
Biblical Counseling Student & Social Work Intern · Case Manager
Loretta is a biblical counseling student and social work intern serving under the direct supervision of licensed staff at RHM. She assists with case management, social work services, and client care coordination as part of her professional and ministry training. All care provided by Loretta is delivered in a supervised capacity.
Her work at RHSBC reflects RHM's commitment to developing the next generation of competent, Christ-centered caregivers — where students learn by doing, under close pastoral and clinical oversight.
Why I Counsel
I'm still in training, and I believe clients should know that up front. What I bring today is careful listening, honest case management, and a supervisor looking over my work — because the people who helped me most were never the ones with the most impressive titles, but the ones who showed up with humility and stayed present. That's the kind of counselor I'm learning to become.

Summer
RHSBC Student
Biblical Counseling Student in Training
Summer is a biblical counseling student in training at Restoring Hope Ministries, working under the direct supervision of licensed and certified staff. She provides care in a supervised capacity as part of her counseling education and formation at RHSBC.
Her placement reflects the practicum model central to RHSBC's approach — where students gain real-world counseling experience under careful mentorship before completing their certification or degree.
Why I Counsel
What I lack in years I try to make up for in presence — and everything I do is supervised by people with far more experience than I have. I'm here because I've seen what careful, Christ-centered care can do in a person's life, and I want to be formed into someone who offers that kind of care well — not just eventually.

What Makes RHSBC Different
Formation, Not Just Information
Active Practitioners
Our faculty counsel real clients. The wisdom they bring to the classroom is forged in actual ministry — not abstracted from it.
Oral Examination Model
Every course includes oral exams reviewed by faculty. This Socratic tradition ensures that students genuinely internalize the material — and can be held accountable for it.
Supervised Practicum
Students counsel real clients under direct faculty supervision. You leave RHSBC not just with a degree — but with practiced skill and pastoral wisdom.
