Learning That No Classroom Can Teach
The 120 House will include a dedicated service and learning area for psychology and social work students from UW–Green Bay. Students serve within the house and learn from the peers and participants who live the work every day.
Some of the most important lessons in the helping professions cannot be taught from a textbook — how to listen without fixing, how to be present without taking over, and how to honor the dignity of every person you meet. The 120 House exists, in part, so students can learn them.
This is experiential learning in its truest form. Future counselors and social workers walk alongside residents and trained peers, and in doing so gain something rare: formed judgment, genuine humility, and a respect for recovery that endures an entire career.
Three Pathways In
Each pathway has a clear entry process. Students may begin with any one of them — most grow into all three over time.
Experiential Learning Placements
Psychology and social work students complete structured experiential learning within the house — observing the peer model, joining group rhythms, and reflecting on real practice under supervision.
How to Sign Up
- 1Talk with your UW–Green Bay program advisor or fieldwork coordinator about a placement with RHM
- 2Contact RHM to request an experiential learning conversation and available opportunities
- 3Complete RHM orientation, confidentiality, and safeguarding requirements before beginning
- 4Begin serving alongside trained peers, with regular reflection and supervision built in
Serving With House Peers
Students serve shoulder-to-shoulder with Relational Recovery Peers and residents — walking alongside, not taking over. This is where students learn to be humble before they learn to be competent.
How to Sign Up
- 1Join weekly campus walks and community rhythms alongside peers and residents
- 2Support intake walks, group life, and day-to-day community under peer guidance
- 3Contribute to staff trainings, program development, and research-informed projects
- 4Give and receive feedback in a learning culture shaped by curiosity and respect
Dr. Gross's Continuing Education Program
Students are invited into RHM’s continuing education program — professional training, supervision, and lifelong formation connected to our campus partnerships and led by Dr. Jeffrey W. Gross.

- 3Join continuing education sessions, workshops, and training events announced throughout the year

Formed by the House, Not Just Trained in It
Humble Before Competent
The formative lesson of the house: students first learn to listen, to be present, and to serve without taking over — competence grows from humility.
Structured & Supervised
Every student experience is oriented, supervised, and bounded — orientation, confidentiality training, safeguarding, and clear role expectations come first.
Experiential, Not Observational
Students do not watch from the sidelines. They serve within the rhythms of the house and learn from peers and participants who live the work every day.
A Note on Timing
The 120 House is in development with a target launch of 2028 — but the pathway begins now. Students can start coursework and continuing education through RHSBC today, so they arrive at the house already formed and ready to serve.
