Why Formation — Not Just Information
A biblical counselor is not simply a person who knows Bible verses and applies them to problems. A biblical counselor is a person whose character has been shaped — by the Word, by suffering, by supervision, by community, by the discipline of ongoing learning — into someone whose very presence communicates the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.
This is why RHSBC is built around degrees and multi-semester programs, not weekend intensives. Not because we want to gatekeep. But because we take seriously what James says: "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness" (James 3:1).
Those who carry the stories, sins, and suffering of others need to be formed for that weight — not just briefed on it.
Certificates
1–2 semesters
Entry-level formation in biblical counseling ethics, soul care principles, and supervised ministry application. Ideal for lay leaders, deacons, and those discerning a counseling calling.
Associate Degrees
2 years
A deeper foundation in biblical studies and counseling theory — building theological breadth alongside counseling practice for ministry or further academic pursuit.
Bachelor Degrees
4 years
Comprehensive biblical, theological, and counseling formation — integrating coursework, practicum, oral examination, and supervised ministry into a full undergraduate education.
Master Degrees
2–3 years post-bachelor
Graduate-level specialization for those called to advanced counseling ministry, pastoral leadership, or theological scholarship. Requires prior degree and demonstrated ministry experience.
Doctoral Programs
3–5 years post-master
The highest level of biblical and counseling formation — for those called to teach, research, lead, or pioneer in the field of Christ-centered care and theological scholarship.
AAATI Accreditation
RHSBC is accredited through the American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions (AAATI) — a federal 501(c)3 Christian nonprofit founded in 1983. Credits and degrees earned are recognized nationally. All programs include oral examinations to ensure authentic comprehension and guard against AI-assisted shortcuts.
