The Supervised Life Is a Safer Life
Every licensed therapist, physician, and attorney undergoes supervised practice before working independently — not because the profession doesn't trust new practitioners, but because unsupervised practice is dangerous for both the practitioner and those they serve.
Biblical counselors are not exempt from this principle. In fact, James 3:1 suggests the stakes are even higher: "we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." If we are going to speak the Word of God into broken lives, we had better be accountable to someone who can tell us when we are getting it wrong.
Pastoral supervision at RHM is not punitive oversight — it is a gift. A place to be known, to be challenged, to be encouraged, and to grow into the counselor God is calling you to be.
Case Consultation
Regular review of active cases with a more experienced supervisor who can identify blind spots, offer clinical and pastoral insight, and help maintain the quality of care.
Theological Accountability
Ensuring that the counselor's theological commitments are reflected in their practice — not just their beliefs. Supervision surfaces the gap between what we say we believe and how we actually counsel.
Counselor Wellbeing
Carrying others' burdens is costly work. Supervision creates a protected space for the counselor to process vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and the emotional weight of the work.
Certification Requirements
